Process Engine Automatic Startup Type Prevents Restart on Windows Vista

Issue

• If the Process Engine service startup type is set to Automatic, a user can login, but the User Account Control (UAC) hangs, which prevents the system from working correctly.

Resolution

• On Windows Vista, set the startup type for the Process Engine service to Manual or Automatic (Delayed Start) only.

  If the service was set to Automatic, the problem may be resolved as follows:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Press F8 before the Windows logo appears.
  3. Select Safe Mode.
  4. Change the service startup type to Manual or Automatic (Delayed Start).
  5. Restart.
