Insight Services and Multiple IP Addresses

Issue

• Insight services do not start when server has multiple network cards and multiple IP addresses. The following message may be written to stdout\_console.log:

  Exception when setting up main. String index out of bounds exception.

Resolution

• If there are multiple IP addresses, the system cannot resolve the correct IP address to connect to the database, and the services do not start. One of the following 2 changes should resolve this problem.

• Resolution \#1

  1. Backup \\lib\\default-domain.cfg

  2. Open default-domain.cfg and add the following line within the "BRIO GLOBAL CUSTOM POLICIES" section and just prior to the "END" of this section. Remember to end the line with a semicolon.

     policies:iiop:server\_address\_mode\_policy:publish\_hostname="true";

  3. Save the file and stop the services (BI, DAS, Super).

  4. Clear the logs from within \\BrioPlatform\\.
  5. Restart the services (Super, DAS, BI).

• Resolution \#2 (If \#1 did not resolve the problem)

  1. Restore the unmodified backup copy of default-domain.cfg.

  2. Open the file and add the following 2 lines within the "BRIO GLOBAL CUSTOM POLICIES" section and just prior to the "END" of this section. Replace the IP addresses listed below with the IP addresses for your own server. Remember to end each line with a semicolon.

     policies:well\_known\_addressing\_policy:iiop:addr\_list=\["10.213.30.14:0","10.213.30.51:0","10.213.30.53:0","10.213.30.55:0","10.213.30.57:0"\];
     BrioJavaServer:iiop:addr\_list=\["10.213.30.14:0","10.213.30.51:0","10.213.30.53:0","10.213.30.55:0","10.213.30.57:0"\];

  3. Save the file and stop the services (BI, DAS, Super).

  4. Clear the logs from within \\BrioPlatform\\.
  5. Restart the services (Super, DAS, BI).
