Failed to Read Attachment If Signature Not Activated

Issue

• When opening a form containing a signature field, a user gets the message Failed to read attachment.

  A warning similar to the following may be found in the Windows application event viewer:
  Unable to access attachment: eClientSignature.js , owned by: , type: 1 .

Resolution

• Activate the signature file as described in the Administration Guide.

  1. Go to Start --> Programs --> Metastorm BPM --> Administrative Tools --> System Administrator.
  2. Right-click on Metastorm Authentication and select Connect.
  3. Connect to the database.
  4. Right-click on Metastorm Authentication and select Activate Signature.
  5. Browse to and select eClientSignature.js from the folder Program Files\\Metastorm BPM\\Engine.

• If you modify eClientSignature.js, you must reactivate the signature in the System Administrator and restart the web server for the change to take effect.
