Issue
When a Microsoft Office application is called from a client-side script, e.g. CreateObject("Word.Application") or CreateObject("Excel.Application"), the user may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
ActiveX component can't create object: 'Word.Application'.
Resolution
Assuming Microsoft Word or Excel is installed on the user's workstation, this error may be due to security settings in Internet Explorer.
Go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Security --> Trusted sites. Add the website that is hosting the Metastorm BPM (e-Work) web extensions. You will need to uncheck the box regarding https if the Metastorm web server does not use https.
If this does not resolve the problem, check the ActiveX security settings for the trusted sites.
