To Do List Not Refreshed in Web Client After Action Completed

Issue

  • In version 6, the To Do list is no longer refreshed in the web client after an action has been completed.

Discussion

  • One of the changes in the version 6 web client is that folder forms and action forms are now opened in their own windows. This provides the significant advantage that a user can continue to browse all of the forms in a folder while completing an action form and can switch to the watch list, blank forms list, or admin forms list while completing an action. They may even peruse the To Do list of one service while completing an action on another service.

    As these forms are being opened in separate windows, the To Do list is no longer refreshed after an action has been completed. This is consistent with the way that the Outlook and GroupWise clients work and is not a bug. By not refreshing the To Do list, there is a performance gain as fewer calls are made to the web server and the engine every time an action is submitted or cancelled.

    To update the To Do list, just click on a node in the filter, or select the refresh option from the menu or tool bar, or from the context sensitive menu displayed when the right mouse button is clicked.
