Cannot Set Group Separator to Blank

Issue

• The Metastorm BPM Version 9.0 Web Client Configuration Guide states that the Group Separator for numeric fields can be specified in the web.config file located here by default: C:\\Program Files\\Metastorm\\BPM\\Web. However, the browser is rendering the separator as a comma even though a blank value is specified in the file.

Resolution

• This is a known issue.

• If the web.config setting is missing or blank, the web client gets the value from the current culture and will display the settings specified in the regional options for the end-user's browser.

• The workaround is to leave the web.config value blank. Then set the digit grouping symbol to blank in the Regional and Language Options for the machine running the browser that is used to access the Metastorm BPM web client.

This has been a painful issue for a long time, ever since this was introduced. With most of our clients the proposed solution is just not acceptable. It should be optional, or settable per field.

 

It just llooks very silluy when someone enters a number like an ID and it has commas in it. Masks and text fields are not an acceptable workaround either.
