Engine Failover Fails When Transport Type Is SOAP

Issue

• The Metastorm service is configured in the EngineServiceConfig.xml file to use two or more Process Engines so that if one Engine fails the other(s) will continue to process any requests. However, if the transport type for each is SOAP, stopping one Engine may cause end users to receive the message Service not available.

Resolution

• This is a known issue.

• If DCOM is used as the transport type, the failover is successful. If both IIS and the Engine are stopped, the failover is also transparent to the end user.
