Error Upgrading from e-Work 6.1.2.4 to 6.2

The information in this article applies to product: e-Work 6.1.2.4

Issue

  • When upgrading e-Work 6.1.2.4 to e-Work 6.2, the following Windows Installer error message is displayed:

    "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."

Resolution

  • Before running the Release 6.2 update:

    1. Delete the following registry key: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Classes\\Installer\\Products\\B3182C57E07A68640A379EF7BA9FA8A2\\Patches

    2. Verify that the following registry key has also been deleted automatically (delete it manually if it hasn't): HKEY\_CLASSES\_ROOT\\Installer\\Products\\B3182C57E07A68640A379EF7BA9FA8A2\\Patches

  • Run the e-Work 6.2 update.
  • NOTE: You do not need to delete these keys if you are upgrading from e-Work 6.1.2.3 or earlier.
