Configuring SMTP on an e-Work Server to Use Exchange SMTP
The information in this article applies to product: Metastorm BPM (e-Work) 5.x 6.x
Issue
- During the installation of e-Work, SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) was selected, but e-mails aren't being sent.
Resolution
When the e-Work engine is installed on a server that does not have native SMTP services, but needs to use a corporate SMTP server such as Exchange to complete SMTP forwarding tasks, additional configuration is needed on the e-Work server.
In order to use SMTP services, a local SMTP server must be installed on the e-Work engine machine, because the engine looks for the SMTP services locally and cannot point to another machine for SMTP services directly.
- See the attached document for a step-by-step description of how to set up the SMTP service on the Engine server.
