Issue

• Metastorm BPM fails to install and the following error message is generated:

  Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation

Resolution

• Make sure the following prerequisites have been met as specified in the Metastorm BPM Installation Prerequisites document:

  1. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (8.0.50727.762) is required before installing the Engine or Designer. This is in the Redistributable folder of the Metastorm BPM DVD. Metastorm BPM setup will check if the required files are present when the Engine and Designer are selected.

  2. The following Windows features (accessible via Control Panel --> Programs and Features --> Turn Windows features on or off) are required for configuring and installing the Metastorm Web Extensions:

     • Web management tools: All (including IIS 6.0 compatibility)
     • Application Development features: ASP.NET (which also turns on .NET extensibility, ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI filters)
     • Common HTTP features: Static content, default documentation.
