.NET Activator and Workflow Foundation Composer Fail to Open From Designer Menu

Issue

• The .NET Activator and Workflow Foundation Composer fail to open from the Tools menu in the Process Designer, and one of the following messages is generated:

  Failed to invoke add-in tool eWork.Common.DesignerUtilities.ToolLauncher.
  The add-in raised the following exception:
  "Invalid class string"
  Check that your add-in has been registered and that the definition in...
  C:\\Program Files\\Metastorm BPM\\Designer\\Addins\\\[20\]NETOrchestrator.xml is correct.

  Failed to invoke add-in tool eWork.Common.DesignerUtilities.ToolLauncher.
  The add-in raised the following exception:
  "Invalid class string"
  Check that your add-in has been registered and that the definition in...
  C:\\Program Files\\Metastorm BPM\\Designer\\Addins\\WorkflowComposer.xml is correct.

Resolution

• This is a known issue.

• The workaround is as follows:

  1. Go to C:\\Program Files\\Metastorm BPM\\Designer

  2. Copy the file eWork.Common.DesignerUtilities.dll to C:\\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727

  3. At a command prompt, run the following to register the DLL:
     C:\\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\regasm eWork.Common.DesignerUtilities.dll
