The information in this article applies to:
Product: Metastorm BPM (e-Work)
Version: 6.x 7.x
Issue
- When trying to access e-Work through the web client, the user receives the following message in the browser: HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Resolution
- For e-Work 6 and later:
- Using the Internet Information Services Manager, check the properties for the 'escripts' virtual directory and ensure that 'Execute Permissions' is set to 'Scripts and Executables'.
- If the e-Work web extensions are installed on a server running Windows Server 2003, check the e-Work Installation Guide for additional configuration settings that are required for this operating system.
If using Windows Single Sign-On (SSO) on Windows Server 2003, ensure that Active Server Pages are allowed. Using the Internet Information Services Manager, go to 'Web Service Extensions'. Select 'Active Server Pages' and click 'Allow'.
For e-Work (Metastorm BPM) 6.6.2 and later:
On Windows Server 2003, open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Drill down to Web Service Extensions. Make sure the ASP.NET web service extension is set to Allowed.
If ASP.NET is not listed as a Web Service Extension in IIS Manager, reinstall it as follows:
- Open a command prompt.
- Navigate to the .NET framework version 2.0 folder. For example: C:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727
- Run the following command: aspnet\_regiis -i
- Restart IIS
- Make sure the ASP.NET web service extension is set to Allowed.
If SharePoint is installed on the same server as the Metastorm Web Extensions, make sure they are not using the same TCP port. In IIS Manager, check the properties for the Default Web Site (Metastorm BPM) and for SharePoint. Assign a different port to SharePoint, if necessary. Make sure the Default Web Site is running.
