Determining File and Assembly Versions for Metastorm Web Parts for SharePoint

Issue

• As explained in the Release Notes, when upgrading the Metastorm Web Parts for SharePoint from version 7.0 to 7.0.1, the SharePoint web.config file must be modified so that web part pages created with version 7 are redirected to use the new web parts. This includes specifying the old assembly version.

  However, there's no way to determine the version of the old assembly after it's been replaced by the new assembly.

Resolution

• At this time, the old assembly version for version 7.0 is 7.0.0.12.

• However, as subsequent product hot fixes may update this file, verify the version number as follows:

  1. In the bin directory under the SharePoint site's folder, e.g. C:\\MetastormWSS\\bin, locate Metastorm.SharePoint.WebParts.dll, right-click, and select Properties.
  2. Select the Version tab.
  3. Select Assembly Version or File Version in the list box to display the version number.
