Issue
During an installation of e-Work, the installer permanently hangs at the following screen:

Resolution
The installer for Metastorm e-Work versions 5.x and 6.x, but not later versions, requires a response from each running application when environment variables are changed. If an application does not respond, the installer will wait indefinitely.
To resolve this, the following steps are recommended.
- If this is a new installation of e-Work, use Add or Remove Programs to remove Metastorm e-Work Release ****, if present. Make sure all Metastorm folders are removed from Program Files. If this is an upgrade of an existing e-Work installation, start with \#2.
- Close all applications and windows.
- Run the install again.
- When the install reaches the point where it stops, close/exit all system tray applications.
- If the install does not continue, open the Services Manager and try to stop running services (NOT the Windows Installer service) one by one to see if the install continues.
- If the install is still hanging, open the Task Manager and try to end processes (NOT msiexec or idriver) one by one until the install continues.
