Using HTTP with Single Sign-On

The information in this article applies to product: e-Work 6.x

Issue

  • Can HTTP be used to talk to the e-Work engine if Single Sign-On is used?

Resolution

  • e-Work Single Sign-On does not support deployment scenarios in which the client connects to the Engine via HTTP, i.e. use of the HTTP Listener is not supported.

This authentication must be performed via a DCOM connection so that the credentials are "trusted" (using Windows Authentication). If an HTTP Listener is used, the connection is made using the IIS account credentials, not the user's account credentials. In this scenario, there is no way the engine is able to authenticate a specific user.
