The information in this article applies to:
Product: Metastorm BPM Client for Office
Version: 7.6
Issue
- After the Client for Office is installed, the Metastorm BPM Smart Tag (Metastorm BPM Process Recognizer) is not available in the list of add-ins for the MS Office application. In addition, trying to access the add-ins option in MS Word may cause the application to become unresponsive.
Resolution
Make sure the Metastorm BPM Client add-ins for Office were selected during the install. If Visual Studio Tools for Office Second Edition is not installed, the add-ins cannot be selected. Go to Add or Remove Programs --> Metastorm BPM Client for Office --> Change --> Modify to verify or install the add-ins. See Metastorm BPM 7.6 Client for Office Release Notes section 4 for additional information on the version of the prerequisite.
If the add-ins were selected and installed, the following workaround should enable Smart Tags in the Office applications. This is adapted from the Metastorm BPM 7.6 Client for Office Release Notes. Note that this workaround applies even if the Client for Office was installed to the default directory.
- Close all Office applications.
- Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Configuration.
- Expand My Computer --> Runtime Security Policy --> Machine --> Code Groups --> All\_Code.
- Right-click on All\_Code and select New...
- Enter any name and press Next.
- Select URL as the condition type.
- In the URL field, enter: path-name\\Client add-ins\\\* where path-name is the full path name of the directory where you have installed the Office Client. For example, C:\\Program Files\\Metastorm BPM\\Client for Office\\Client add-ins\\\*
- Press Next.
- Select the existing FullTrust permission set and press Next.
- Press Finish.
- Close the configuration tool. Smart Tags should be enabled.
