Issue

• When trying to submit a form or when a form is being refreshed, the user is presented with one of the following messages:

  Failed to refresh form.
  Failed to commit action.

• An error similar to the following is written to the application event log:

  Failed to mutate Custom Value for Field ''.

Resolution

• This can be caused by any of the following:

  1. The variable name referenced in the event log does not exist in the procedure. Be sure to check for misspellings.
  2. An attempt is being made to assign the wrong datatype to the variable. E.g., the following assignment is being made when the form is saved: %DateTime11:="Here is text being assigned to a datetime variable."
  3. An attempt is being made to assign a value that exceeds the size of the variable. E.g., the text variable txtDescription is created with the default size of 250. In the procedure's When action completed, 251 or more characters of data are selected from the database and assigned to txtDescription.
