Insight Report Fails to Publish Due to Size Restriction

Issue

• Insight report fails to publish with error message similar to the following:

  Posted content length of exceeds limit of 104857600.

Resolution

• The maximum size of a file that can be published into the repository is configurable. The default setting is 100 MB, which was exceeded in the error message shown above. Although it is not recommended that this be increased due to possible performance issues, the size can be changed as follows:

  1. Open the Servlet Configurator
  2. Select Properties --> Internal --> Upload
  3. Change "Max file size allowed for publish" (in MB)
  4. Restart the Web Server and Servlets

• As a best practice, and to avoid potential errors like the one above, it is recommended that query results not be saved with the report. This setting is available in the Hyperion Designer. From the menu, select File --> Save Options and uncheck Save Query Results With Document....

• Additionally, reports can be compressed. From the Designer menu, select File --> Save Options and check Compress Document.
