Procedure Won't Open if Stage is Renamed with Certain Characters and Icon is Changed

Issue

• A stage in a map is renamed to contain a question mark, the icon for the stage is changed, and the procedure is saved as an XEP file. When trying to open the file, an error message similar to the following is generated by the Designer:

  The content of this file is not a valid e-Work procedure or library
  The original error message was "Failed to read process:Failed to read activity First stage?:Cannot create file C:\\DOCUME~1\\jlsmith\\LOCALS~1\\Temp\\TestProcFirstStage?.jpg"

Resolution

• Do not use illegal Windows filename characters in an e-Work stage name. These are / \\ : \* ? " < > |
