Please help, we are getting this error anytime users try to add assets (of any type/size) via the web client. the windows client works fine

"The asset(s) could not be added. Saving the uploaded file failed."

I do not see anything being logged in MBP.log or under Job History in the windows client. I have full (green) access. thanks in advance

We faced similar issues,

I tested with restarting the MS SQL Server and MB Server.
This issue has been resolved by restating the MB Server .
I don’t know the exact issues , even the log files doesn’t make any help
If you look your windows event viewer , you may get some ideas

I prefer to re boot the server .

ok cool thank you very much for the feedback, we will bounce the MB server after business hours. the worst part is there is nothing being kicked to MediaBin logs to help us debug/fix (as you noted also)

Can you check the disk space on the server that the web client is installed? What is the size of your transfer directory for the web client? Looks like these files are not getting deleted. Does the transferfolder20 share on the server having web client have everyone-full control?

From the symptoms it is almost certainly not an issue with the MB server. As suggested the most likely culprits are either disk space or permissions on the web server.

That error is generated when ActiveFile.dll cannot write the uploaded file to disk. ActiveFile.dll parses the raw HTTP message that contains the uploaded file content. The message content is read from the ASP runtime, parsed, and the file data is written to disk. ActiveFile.dll uses MBUtils.dll to write the data to disk.

Two possibilities are:
1. If you're using the anonymous IUSR_ account for your web site, be sure that account has at least MODIFY privileges to the transfer folder that's defined in global.asa. It can be confusing because Microsoft has excluded that account from the EVERYONE group for security reasons. Do downloads work?

2. This item applies ONLY if you've upgraded your web client from a previous version. The installer now places MBUtils.dll and ActiveFile.dll in a common area that is shared by all MediaBin client apps. Prior to 4.6, those dlls were placed under the web client's installation folder. If a dll is loaded, the installer doesn't update files in the common area. It's possible this is an installation problem and the MBUtils.dll and ActiveFile.dll might not have been updated properly. You should:
a. stop IIS
b. verify all of the dlls (especially MBUtils.dll and ActiveFile.dll) have the same or later date/time stamp as JobTracker.dll. Look in c:\program files\common files\Interwoven, Inc\MediaBin Models for MBUtils.dll. Look in the web client install folder for JobTracker.dll.
c. if MBUtils.dll and ActiveFile.dll look ok, run RegisterModel.bat from the common area folder to reregister the dlls - if the dlls look wrong, reinstall the web client.
d. restart IIS and test
e. if everything works, delete ActiveFile.dll, MBUtils.dll, MBPScriptModel2.dll from under the web client installation folder. ActiveFile would be in a folder called ActiveFile. These copies should be deleted because they are out-of-date.
