Issue
If the system has Microsoft Windows Installer version 4.0 or later installed, and Metastorm BPM 7.6.2.1 or 7.6.2.2 is the latest hotfix installed, subsequent hotfix installs may fail (setup will suddenly disappear). The failure is reflected in the installation log, located in the %TEMP% directory, with an entry such as the following:
PATCH SEQUENCER ERROR: failed to retrieve the upgrade code Minor762ToHotfix7\_6\_2\_1 transform in \{AB5DD8AF-998A-449B-9141-5424842E7116\} patch takes the product to! (1: 2253 2: 3: MsiPatchOldAssemblyName )
Resolution
Determine which version of Windows Installer is installed. Go to Start --> Run, enter msiexec.exe, and click OK. If the version is 4.0 or later, continue with the following steps. If an earlier version is installed, disregard the following and install hotfix 7.6.2.3 or later.
Determine which Metastorm BPM hotfix is installed using Add or Remove Programs. If hotfix 1 or hotfix 2 is installed for Metastorm BPM SR2, continue with the following steps. If hotfix 3 or later is installed, disregard the following and install hotfix 7.6.2.4 or later.
Using Export, make a backup of the following registry key:
HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Installer\\UserData\\S-1-5-18\\Products\\DAF920CDE0F7A924BB29D979F4A3E951\\Patches.
From the attached zip file, install the reg file that corresponds to the latest installed hotfix - 7.6.2.1\_Supersede.reg or 7.6.2.2\_Supersede.reg.
Apply hotfix 7.6.2.3 or later following the instructions in the Release Notes.
