Patch Install FileSite 8.2 P6
wolfgang
I just tried to patch install FileSite 8.2 P6 over a FileSite 8.2 P2 installation. A warning message told me this patch could not be installed because the software to be patched would be missing or the patch would be patching a different version (roughly translated back from the German warning text).
The FileSite 8.2 P4 release notes state that P4 installation could *only* be done as a full install.
Am I reading this right, that I would then have to first do a full install of P4 and patch this P4 installation? (In this case, I could do a full install of P6, of course.) Deinstall and full install again is an option I would like to circumvent if possible ...
Does anyone have more experience on this topic?
Wolfgang

So, ok, we did a full deinstall of P2 and a full install of P6. No worries ... :-)

I've found that with the 8.2 clients its best if you do a 8.2.P4 full install (this is the only option in P4 making it the new "baseline") and then apply the latest patch update. This appears to add something to the system that the later "full installs" are missing.
If you do a P5 full install and later try to apply the P6 patch you get a error saying that the application the patch is trying to update isn't installed.
