The information in this article applies to product: e-Work 6.5 and later
Issue
- Engine becomes unresponsive.
- All client requests fail with "Unable to process specified request".
- The following error is written to the Windows event log:
KeepAlive update failed for this engine.
Engine name: .
Operation: opening database connection.
ErrorCode:-2147467259
Description:'ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed' Source:OraOLEDB SQL State: NativeErrorCode: 12638
Resolution
- The standard method for authentication used by the e-Work engine is username and password.
- Open the file sqlnet.ora on the database server.
- Check the value of SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION\_SERVICES.
- If this value is (NTS) and the Oracle system hasn't been correctly configured for OS authentication, then setting this value to (NONE) will force only username and password authentication. This should resolve the issue.
