Checkout of Knowledge Exchange checks out additional models not selected

I'm checking out a set of Workflow models from Knowledge Exchange, selecting specific models that I want to check out. I unchecked the "Include nested..." option in the Checkout wizard, but when I go to ProVision, there are additional models included that I had not selected. Anyone have any idea why this is occurring?

Hi Katie,

You are still seeing the nested models with the high-level workflow that you checked out. However, I believe that you will not be able to edit them if you didn't check out the nested models. There are icons that sit on each object that will indicate the rights that you have to edit or only having 'read-only' rights to the objects in the check-out.

You can also control which indicators that you will see on objects by going to Tools > Preferences or using the 'Shift + F11' shortcut. I hope that helps and would like to hear if you had the nested objects as 'read-only' or if you checked those objects out even though you unchecked the 'Include Nested'.

Hi Ben,

The extra models that I am getting are not always nested under the higher level workflows that I am selecting during checkout. Sometimes they are models that are not components of any other model, and sometimes they are 3 or 4 levels under the higher level, but there are models in between the higher level that I checked out and the nested model that came along but shouldn't have that are missing. So it doesn't appear to me that it has anything to do with nested workflows. If it was related to nested workflows, I would be getting a lot more models in many cases. Also, the extra models that I'm getting are not read-only, unless someone else has them checked out. So I end up checking them out as locked unintentially, thus preventing someone else from being able to update those models.

So bottom line is, when we are checking out of this notebook, we are getting more models than requested during checkout, which is causing a problem for other users that need to update those models. I am only seeing this problem in one particular notebook.

Hi Ben,

I just found out that the old technical support site does still exist, so I'm submitting this as a new case. The problem happens with just this notebook, so I need someone to take a look at it.

I hope that tech support will address your case soon if they haven't done so already. Would you mind getting back with how this resolved? I'm curious to see if the models that are appearing in your check-out are contextual or somehow associated to the content you wanted to check-out.
