v9 visual script reuse

How could I execute visual script designed for one event in another? For example if I have the same on action compleated events in more then one place in my map?

There is ExecuteWorkflow methid in Mstm object, and accepc SequentialWorkflowActivity, but I'm not sure what to pass to this parameter.

You can use any Visual Script anywhere.

The problem is that you need to pass in the local Business Object instance, typically the process one or a Form object.

To do this you can pass in the 'Current' object. Just type in Current as the parameter (no quotes). The function needs to accept the exact type of BO that you are currently 'in'. You cannot pass paramaters to a Visual Script, therefore you cannot reuse them in this way. You can only reuse functions in this way as Visual Script Activities by promoting them.

We have some instances of this working in code, but so far every attempt to pass the Current Object seems to have failed. This may have changed in the recent release, but I do recall passing Current to a Visual Script Activity fails, although it may work in code.

I am not sure this is a valid thing to do, but I may have misunderstood. Only Business Object instances may be passed.

I have no problems with passing any business object to visual script.

All scripting stuff is working fine in my process.

I have situation, where I have two actions. And on both actions (on action compleated) I should have the same visual script (the same workflow). All I want to do is:

- create once visual script

- run this script on antoher action on compleated event

As I understand, If wokflow definition is running without errors on Action1, it should runn properly on Action2. On action completed I have no relations with forms BO.

You cannot reuse a Visual Script except for a 'generic' Visual Script. These cannot access Business Objects, so are of limited use.

The only way to do this is to write a C# function, I'm afraid.

You can (and we sometimes to) just copy an Activity, but since the order can get set incorrectly we do not do this with multiple activities. We would write a C# function.

Jerome is correct. The reusable Visual Script currently has no data (Business Objects) in scope although you can still use point to point DB access (i.e. Insert/Update/Delete activities and SelectSQL in expressions). We plan to enhance this area within a future release.
