Shared object do not appear in crystal reports

Hi,

I have been struggling a bit to see how shared objects appear in Crystal reports. I can see the object names and properties are appended to the notebook name when you look at them in the target notebook but what I am having trouble with is seeing them in crystal reports. I created one notebook and added a few systems and activities. Checked them in to KE 6.2.1 and shared. Then I set up a new notebook and recruited these shared objects. I then created implementation links and ran the Activity - System report from crystal and got...nothing. then I tried exporting the XSD and setting these up as a custom language and I do see the properties in pvReport but when I run the report I dont get the objects (although I do get the implementation links). So then I added a few local objects and these do appear but when I link a local to a shared I only get the local. I then tried setting a couple of the shared objects to local and they appear in the report. So what I dont get is how do I include the shared objects in a report from a local notebook. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Roger. I've done a much simplier test than you with shared technology objects. Imported the shared objects into a local repository (as reusable) and ran a report that only contained the technology table. Shared technology objects appeared in the report (with the full namespace as this was my preference setting). The problem could lie in the link report. I'll give it a try and will let you know if the implementation link is causing issues.

I am investigating maintaining reference objects in one notebook and reusing them in a working notebook where we create local associations and then report on these. I had some issues creating the customised pvReport with our modeling language as the xsd import caused errors (perhaps because of the shared notebook name) so I used a known good crystal report but wanted to mix local and reused objects to test the naming.

I've reproduced your problem and we're investigating this. Should be fixed soon. Customizing pvReport works fine though. Need to make sure your access DB enables external content (in Access 2007 there is specific strangely placed Option button to allow that !). To conclude reporting should allow both local (whether checked out or new objects to be checked in) and shared reused objects. Will keep you posted.
