Migrating assets and metadata

I would like to migrate obsolete assets to another drive without losing the metadata. They likely have some historical value but I don't want them clogging up the C drive. Is there any way to convert existing assets to externally indexed assets by moving them to the Data drive?

Have you considered exporting the assets along with their metadata using an XML encoder task? Or do you just want to do a big dump of the entire MBDataDirectory?

You may want to consider adding a new location for ImageDb. While you cannot explicitly decide which images to move, you can effectively do this by migrating the oldest subdirectories.

Once secondary ImageDb directories are created, they can even be placed on read-only media.
