User Explorer > Add User???

I have on colleague here, in my organization and in my department, who is also using Metastorm and M3. I tried to add him in the user explorer, but I got an error message saying that he already exists. Of course, I know that. I am just trying to add him to my user explorer, or else find him there, so that we can collaborate.

Users cannot span multiple organizations. If a user created their own organization within M3 that same user (email address) cannot be used to create a user in your organization.

When creating a user the email address must be unique. You should be able to add your colleague to your organization by creating a new user in your organization and using a different email address than his/her existing M3 account.

Is there any way that we can just make sure that we are in the same organization?

You are in the same organization if both users are listed in the user management widget.

When a user signs up with M3 an organization (i.e. account) is created with that user as the owner. Users are only in the same organization if the organization's creator adds the user to the organization via the user management widget.

So now, how can we get into the same organization? He tried to create me in his organization, but it didn't work, so I submitted my own request to get in to M3. But we really are both in the same organization, we just need to register that in our user accounts.

You can create a user in your account. You will however need to use a different email address.

Example:

1. Mike signs up with M3 using email address -removed-. This creates an account for this user.

2. Jeff signs up with M3 using email address -removed-. This creates an account for this user.

3. Jeff would like to add Mike to his organization/account in order to collaborate.

Jeff logs into M3 and creates a new user in the user management widget. The new user being created is for Mike since users are not shared accross organizations/accounts. The email address entered for Mike must be different than Mikes other M3 user. So Jeff enters -removed-.

5. Jeff lets Mike know what his login and password information are.

Mike logs into Jeff's M3 organization/account.
Jeff now starts a collaboration session and selects Mike as a participant.

Isn't there anything you can do with my current account, like change the email address, or just delete it (saving my projects) so that my boss can add me to his company using my correct email address?

You could log into your account and change the email address. Your boss could then use your correct email when adding you to his organization. Your boss should also use a different username than the one that you created your account with.
