Using request groups or request lists in 8.1.8.5

I'm assuming we can initiate a RequestGroup using a Directory Monitor. If not, let me know.

The documentation I have for 8.1.8 shows a field in the Request Group screen (in the ProcessMonitor) call "Submit as Transfer List"- a check box for true or false. Our Process Monitor does not have this field for Request Groups, but it does have a field called "Group Data Messages". Are these the same fields? What is the XML tag name for the "Submit as Transfer List" field?

Also, the documentation shows a field in the process monitor for REQUESTS called "Request Group" which does not appear in our process monitor. What is the XML tag name for this field and I assume the value should be the name of the Request Group that the Request should be associated with (rather than the .xml member).

Request Groups do not make sense with respect to Directory Monitor requests. Directory Monitor requests are used to transfer a single file to one or more locations. You can initiate Request Groups as part of an exit or via other methods.

Below is a snapshot of the Process Monitor Request Group screen. There is no "Submit as Transfer List" field. You may want to download the documentation again or check the version number.

Request Groups and Group Data Messages are two different things. Request Groups refer to grouping of MIM transfers. Group Data Messages refer to grouping of Websphere MQ messages (lower-level operational detail).

Again, I do not see the other field you refer to. Perhaps you can post a snapshot or e-mail me the documentation and refer to the Figure/Page #. Double check that you are using the correct version documentation for your software. You can download all versions by clicking on the "Customer Zone," above.

Ethan, I'm not sure why the request list can't be kicked off by a dirmon. The directory monitor is just monitors for the arrival of a file in a source directory and invokes a request which contains the guts of the file transfer. In the same way, the arrival of a single file should be able to trigger a request group, that calls multiple request templates to send the lone file to multiple destinations.

FYI, my reason for trying the request list is I'm was using a single request template invoked by a dirmon that in turn used a destination list....but upon execution of the destination list, no variables were inserted into the dpath file names (including the date or time stamp, the original file name or the process ID).

If I could get the sub-variables to populate into my destination list dpaths, I could use that.
