V9 SR1 - AJAX controls on forms

Hi,

Is there any way to add AJAX Toolkit controls on the V9 forms?

I noticed that AjaxControlToolkit is already added to the controls tag in the Web.config that the web client is using?

Yes, we've been wondering about Ajax for a while to. There are numerous references in the congig files etc, but no examples or doco?

We make extensve use of AJAX within our forms and form controls, which is why you see that reference. Currently, there is no officially supported way to add custom controls. Although, as in past releases, I'm sure some of our more clever users have found a way to do this.

Version 9 has been built specifically to enable better extensibility and we do plan to document and support this in the future. This will not be inclued within the first release of the SDK (coming in a few weeks), but we do plan to include this support, documentation, and samples in a release soon after.

Is there a specifc control you are looking for?

While not directly related, I'd vote for fuller support for (or access to) the DevExpress grid and Telerik RTF controls since they are already partly used with V9.

In V7 (and V6) we had to build an external form with DevExpress grid controls because the built-in capabilities could not work as users desired for one particular form. Later we then had to add Telerik for Rich Text Format field capabilities in another map since they are not possible with BPM field types. (I believe both are still the case in V9, but not sure as I had to switch from evaluating V9 to things that needed to be implemented before we could upgrade to V9.)

We have added some new funcitonality to /awd/forums/questions/3403451in SR2 and we are planning for more enhancements to grids in 9.1, but if you have additional ideas, let me know. As for RTF controls, we are already working on including this as an out of the box control type for 9.1.

Thanks for the response. If possible, it would be nice to use following AJAX controls on the forms

1) CollapsiblePanel

2) Autocomplete

3) Modal Popup

Do you have a sample to implement one control that would give us some direction and we can take it from there.

Since you brought up 9.1, is that the next release or is there going to be a 9.0.3, 9.0.4, etc. first?

Any idea approximately when 9.1 might be coming out? (I know 9.0.2 just came out, but we're planning on a V9 upgrade next year so checking general time frames for planning purposes. I know no commitment can be made at this time, but checking in general.)

There are no plans at this time for a 9.0.3, but it may be possible is there is sufficient demand. As for 9.1, we are working on that now and don't have a public date, but we expect to make that available within the next two quarters.
