validation-regex in datacapture.cfg

Having a very strange problem with validation-regex in datacapture.cfg for the metadata capture screen.

The first item on the screen is this:


Title





Everything should be OK, but TeamSite seems to completely ignore the validation regex. However, for another field down the page, everything gets validated as expected:


Author




After further testing, it turns out that giving item.name the value of "title", stops the validation-regex from working on that item!!! what gives?
