Translation Errors at Runtime if the IBM Translation Tables are not Installed

Translation errors will occur if the OS does not have the translation tables installed.  

 

Given

• MIM Transmit Queue Service executing on AIX with WebSphere MQ client Windows Nodes
• zLinux Node

Translation errors will occur if the OS does not have the translation tables installed. For example, the ftfping will fail even if the mq-cluster, channels, and queues all look healthy.  

 

On AIX, use lslpp-l to display the iconv files installed. For example:

lslpp -l | grep iconv

  bos.iconv.com              6.1.1.0  COMMITTED  Common Language to Language

  bos.iconv.ucs.com          6.1.1.0  COMMITTED  Unicode Base Converters for

  bos.iconv.ucs.ebcdic       6.1.0.0  COMMITTED  Unicode Converters for EBCDIC
