Problem with importing images in TeamSite

auli

We have upgraded from MediaBin 4.5.1 to MediaBin 4.6. We can browse everything from IIS on the machine where new MediaBin is installed and upgraded, but when trying to import images in TeamSite(671), it throws an error saying "Can not validate guest user". Everything was working fine but since we installed Depoyment Agent, we are facing this issue.

Any pointers would be of great help.

TIA-
Auli

Please update the result "If you uninstall Deployment Agent

and try to Import the asset into TS from mediaBin"

Vin

auli

Yes, we uninstalled the deployment Agent but still it throws the same error when trying to import files in TeamSite from MediaBin.

Can you login to MB directly using the guest user account that you have configured in the ECM connector?

auli

Yes, I can login to MediaBin with guest user account. Using this account I can access evrything - Enterprise manager, Hotfolders, Windows client.
I have checked permissions on all the directotries in IIS - MediaBin Server, WebServices, TransferFolderWS, everything is fine.

msrinivas

Can you please post the exact error that you are getting? Are TeamSite and/or MediaBin configured to use LDAP?

auli

Error screenshot is attached and our servers are not configured for using LDAP.

The error "screenshot" states:

MediaBin will obviously not be able to authenticate if you have the guest user account as Domain/Username. You have to configure a real domain name and user name for it to work.

I am not sure what you mean when you say that you are able to login with this domain\username into all the MB components.

HTH

auli

Actually first line of error code is -
java.rmi.RemoteException: MediaBin can't validate guest user ABC/XYZ
There are real domain and user name at these places.

Make sure your IIS website for MediaBin WebServices is set to allow anonymous access. The steps may vary a little depending on which version of IIS and OS, but it is something like this:

1. start IIS Manager
2. Open the Default Web Stie folder
3. Right click MediaBin and select Properties
4. Select the Directory Security tab
5. Edit the Authentication and access control section
6. Check the box that says "Enable anonymous access"
7. uncheck all boxes in the Authenticated access section

Also, you will want to expand the directory below MediaBin and make sure the transfer (or transferfolderws in MB 4.6) folder also allows anonymous access.

I hope this helps,
Cliff

msrinivas

Cliff,

Correct me if I am wrong but for the ECM connector anonymous access needs to be enabled on the MediaBinWebServices virtual directory. In the latest version there is a virtual directory created for TransferFolderWS at the same level as MediaBinWebServices (and MediaBin). Anonymous access is needed for that virutal directory also.

I think this post is really confusing when the posted says they have a domain ABC and user XYZ. The other error that I posted from the attachment had domain domain and user username.

auli

Thanks for your replies.
Anonymous access was already on, I tried by unchecking all the check boxes in the authorization section but even then it didnt work.

msrinivas

Please open a case with support if you have not done that already.

Srinivas,

Darn, I wrote a post and then realized I was responding to a different question. For the question about the transfer folder, please see this post:
http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums_vb/showthread.php?t=23126&forumid=46

-------------------------------------------------------
We are talking about two different types of access.

1. The TeamSite code is using the MediaBin WebServices API and needs to be able to connect to the web services server code that is running in IIS. We need to make sure IIS does not block the connection, so we tell IIS to let anyone connect to the web services "website".

2. Once TeamSite can make a connection to the MB web services, the first steps is to authenticate (aka login) to MediaBin. For this, we send the userid/password that was entered in the Admin tab in TeamSite. This information is inside of the SOAP package.

I hope that clears things up a bit.

auli

Thanks Cliff,
but now I am facing one more problem. When I am trying to Test MediaBin connection from MediaBin Web Services page it says -
"MBException : Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
Is this a reason why I am getting that error when trying importing images in TeamSite?
Anything that we can try to resolve this.

cliff1

If the MediaBin WebService are not functioning correctly, there is no chance that the ecmconnector will work. I would first try to restart IIS on your MB system and if that does not clear the problem, try to reboot. If you are still getting this error, you should open a case with technical support to help troubleshoot further -- I don't think the forums is a good place to troubleshoot issues like this. You may have an unsupported version of IIS or be missing some .net components or something (hard to guess).

auli

We resolved the issue, after trying almost everything suggested, we do a fresh install of MediaBin Web Services, Web Client and Enterprise Manager.
Now everything is working fine.
