Issue
- CHM files (compiled help files) fail to open properly when accessed from the web or from a network resource. If a dialog box is presented to the user, selecting 'Open' will display an error message instead of the file contents, for example, Navigation to the webpage was canceled.
Resolution
- CHM files must be stored/accessed locally otherwise Microsoft security will prevent the user from opening them. An alternative is to use HTML hosted by SharePoint, which will allow searching.
