Hiding links for folder type column in grid

I have a read-only grid where one of the columns is an efolderid column which is set to Type = Folder, which subsequently displays a link to the folder in this column.  I need to hide the link for certain rows in the grid so that the user cannot open certain folders.  Is there a way to selectively hide those links?

If the folder id is empty the link is geryed out and disabled. Use soem creative SQL (CASE in SQL Server and DECODE in Oracle) to make the folder is empty if required.
