Was support for SQL Server 2000 dropped in 7.6.2?

OK, this seems very odd.

The release notes for 7.6.2 (and 7.6.3) state the following:

The supported environment for 7.6 SR2 is identical to 7.6 and 7.6 SR1 with the addition of the following:

(my emphasis).

Then the list shows SQL Server 2005 & 2008. OK so far.

In the Supported Environments, however, it states:

2.2.4  Database Support
Database Management System Servers
The Metastorm BPM database is supported running on the following Database Management
Systems:
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (for single user development and testing)
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 64 bit
•  Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit)

No mention of SQL Server 2000?

So what is that about? Is SQL Server 2000 no longer supported in 7.6.2+?

  • You are correct support for MSSQL 2000 was dropped at this point.

You will note that you no longer get a MSSQL 2005 specific version of the ewrokProcedure.sql script after this point.  It now only compatable with MSSQL 2005 & 2008.

  • Thank you for the confirmation.

It seems very odd to drop support for a major database version in a service pack release IMO. The release notes are also very misleading.
