Reasons to love Metastorm BPM 9 - Part 3: Reports
One of the new features added in version 9 is Reports. In most systems we maintain, reporting is a constant requirement. There are many ways to manage reporting, using services such as Crystal Reports, SQl Server Reporting Services or Oracle Reports.
We generally provide query forms in our systems, as these are relatively easy to build and maintain in Metastorm BPM. What we have been unable to do until now is two things:
Firstly, make the report 'pretty'. We have been limited to grids, and even though we have devised methods to translate these to HTML tables and the like, are still not as flexible as reporting tools.
Secondly, we have been unable to deliver the report as a PDF file, at least with the existing functionality.
Now that we have reporting tools built into the Metastorm BPM Designer, we are able to meet both of these requirements, and more. This demonstration shows you how we can build a complete report, with multiple graphs showing different summary aspects of our data, group headers, footers and running totals, as well as pleasingly formatted item data.
In addition, we show a few features that are not immediately obviously available, such as the Series Editor, Palette Editor, and Style Editor.
