I'm trying to extend our Knowledge exchange functionality across offices using an MPLS connection. What ports should be explicitly defined for both license server connectivity and global repository access using Provision

Hi Riyaad,

 

By default you will need 27000-27009 open for the licensing.

 

If you're using Tomcat then you will want to have ports 8080, 80, and potentially 443 open.

Thanks for the feedback. Thus far, I only have ports 27000   and 1493 opened.  Telnets from port 27001 to 27009 are not utilised. Traffic to the license server has been opened on the firewalls joining our two networks. We have a seperation of the license server, which uses the server's IP and the Tomcat application which has it's own IP.

 

Do you have any documents which explains the license checkout procedure? What we've found is that a ping request is made to the license server and because this traffic goes to the firewall,it is dropped. Do we need to include ICMP in the firewall rule?

Can you outline what exactly you're looking for?  Are you looking for an outline for the ProVision client checking out a license from a Floating License Server?

I was eventually able to get this working. We allowed 2 public interfaces to speak over all the relevant ports to the internal license and application server.
