Automating Audit Letter Response process

We are about to begin a working group to explore the possibilities of automating the process of gathering responses from various lawyers in our firm to audit letter requests from clients' external auditors. I was wondering whether anyone here had experience automating such a process, whether you have any knowledge or process modules you'd be willing to share, any general advise you might give, etc., etc., etc.

Wow! I had never even considered using BPM for this, you are legend my friend.

I would be very interested if you come up with anything, I will do the same.

Thinking about it, we have a few BI Reports that require F/E comments to be entered and a system such as this would be much better then having a secretary followup pracs with emails, so my thoughts would be to have a process that allows the secretary to upload a CSV for processing by BPM, or an grid where the report owner can enter the F/E's who need to enter details, and most importantly when this has to be completed by.

The process would then email the F/E advising them of the new folder and there requirement to complete details. The F/E will then receive reminders, I am thinking bi-daily if the report is due soon or weekly if there is a bit more time.

The tricky part for me would be how to best make this process as generic as possible to allow it be used by an unknown quantity of reports each requiring different data by F/E.
