Contextual objects in nested workflows

When creating a nested workflow, the model automatically includes the contextual objects for the model. In some cases, this is a decision point or junction rather than the preceding or following activity. This doesn't provide as much context as seeing the activity, particularly if the name of the object is something like 'Approved?' (or nothing if it is a junction).

In these cases, is there any way of including the preceding/following activity rather than just the decision point/junction?

Hi Alison,

The only way to include the previous activity would be if the previous activity is the source of the workflow link into the subject of the model. If you would like to see this kind of functionality in ProVision, being able to select the previous activity as the context object instead of a junction or decision point, you can submit this as an enhancement to the IDEAs forum at: http://communitycentral.metastorm.com/t5/Idea-Central-Metastorm-Product/idb-p/Ideas

One problem I am having with contextual objects, is that sometimes I can't move them in the nested workflow. Is there a reason for this or anything I can do to change it?

Hi Alison,

It could be a bug in the version you're using. As a workaround, are you able to click on the object in question so it's selected, and then use the arrow keys to move the object?

I can't move it with the arrow keys (though I can resize it).

I am using ProVision 6.2.4.110216.

Hi Alison,

You can try moving those context objects by clicking them so they're selecting and then using the arrow keys on your keyboard. What version of ProVision are you using?

I have tried selecting an object and moving with the arrow keys but this doesn't work.

I am using ProVision 6.2.4.110216. I have raised a support ticket for this.

Sounds like a bug. I ran into the same problem.
