Backspace at the start of a search string deletes text after the cursor position.

 

Also, if you highlight part of the string a hit delete it deletes the whole string.

 

Also, it still doesn't find everything it should, sometimes not even giving a message - it just seems to give up.

 

For large migration projects this is a real stinker - it's not even as if you can search/replace on the source files as often the content you want to change is encrypted.
