How to figure out locked DCR's in Form API

Hi,

Background process -

We have customized the generate button, In case user click on generate on a newly open DCR then save happens through IWDatacapture.save ()command.

Problem discription -

During save process if the user selects a file name which is already existing then I need a way to identify that the DCR is already locked by some-else. Is there any formAPI to achieve this functionality. Or is there any way to achieve this functionality.

I'm not sure I completely understand your problem description - but I think what you're looking for is a CallServer() script - which runs (asynchronously) on the server side and can check things like whether a given file exists, if it is locked, etc. Read the FormAPI Developer's Guide and search the forums for callserver and you should find a wealth of information about it.

As Adam suggested, call servers will do what you ask.

The bigger issue is what are you *really* trying to prevent. You use case is not making a great deal of sense.

Also, you can do this with a callout when the DCR loads. It can run a script to check whatever needs checking and add a new item or something like that.

You can create a custom CGI to unlock the locked file and call that using callServer....
