Knowledge Exchnage upgrade.

We're plannin an upgrade of Knowledge exchange and Provision from 6.2.4 to 6.3. Part of our upgrade is a planned upgrade of the tomcat server as well, so I have a few questions.

  1. Can I perform an in-place upgrade of the tomcat server from 5.5 to 6? will the application be transfered? If, not how do I go about re-creating the knowledge exchange application?

  2. Do I have to upgrade the license server and license file as well?

  • Hello Riyaad,

If your KEServer is in a Windows environment, then the upgrade process should be pretty easy. You can just execute the KEServer 6.3 installation and it will automatically detect the previous installation of Tomcat 5.5 and upgrade to Tomcat 6. It will also retain all of your repository information and automatically deploy the application to the new Tomcat.

There are a couple of documents that can help you with the upgrade process. Both can be accessed on the Metastorm Provision support website:

"Installation and Configuration - Tomcat on Windows"

    "Upgrading Knowledge Exchange Server"

As always, if you need more assistance you can contact our support team.

Also, you do not need to change your license server or license file for this upgrade.

    Thanks,

    Jim
