Changing Connection details in Administrator

Changing connection details through the Metastorm Administration utility does not work and it appears that the only way of changing connection details is by modifying the project.  This is recognised as a defect (DEF18486) but there is no timeframe for a fix. The defect (apparently) applies to all versions of the product.

 

I see this as a major problem for those organisations who have formal change control processes and who cannot accept that project code would be modified when promoting between environments.

 

The options appear to be:

• accept that project code is changed between environments
• script Metastorm connections in code using stored parameters (sound familiar?) rather than using the inbuilt features
• script connections/database access using .NET functionality

There may be others but undoubtedly they will involve more work for the developer.
