What is a Worklist?

Hi,
This migh be a dumb question. But still, I could not find any answer for this in Interwoven help or in Google... Why do we need a Document worklist and matter worklist, when there is a Worksite Explorer in worksite Web?

Maintaining the most-recently used documents or matter WorkSpaces provides users with a convenient way to get to content or matters that they have been working on recently.
In a law firm environment, secretaries will be heavy users of the document worklist, attorneys will generally use the matter worklist more.
