A new season and a new version of M3, Fall Release is here!
We were busy this summer. In between vacations, relaxing by the pool, and sipping our favorite beverage, we were building some cool new functionality.
We've been asked so many times, where is drill-down support in M3? This summer we got a chance to build it in. I think you'll like our take on it. Everything is driven from context menus that popup and display options for building or navigating to a drill-down.
Modeling has been greatly improved as well. In the past making the model 'look' good was a bit of a challenge. Lines would often be a little 'off' with a bend in the wrong place, or routed in a weird direction. We've corrected this by implementing 'snap-to-grid' in models. This ensures everything is lined up correctly and the lines look great!
Take a look at all the additional features below:
- Object-level Comments tab
Adding, responding to, and removing object-level comments is available from an object's detail dialog box. - Navigate to an object's submodel
Objects with navigation capability display an indicator next to the object to let you know that you can focus in from the object to the submodel that describes it. - Create a submodel from an object
An object's inline toolbar displays a create submodel indicator when the selected object can be the subject of a model and the object is not already the subject of a model. - Line rerouting with snap-to-grid
When moving an object, the object snaps to a fixed grid, similar to a small gravitational field that tugs at anchor points in objects. - Visible anchor points on objects
In Link mode, objects display four visible anchor points (top, left, right, and bottom) when hovering the mouse pointer over the object. Linking two objects using a visible anchor point lets you snap to a visible anchor point on another object. This method of linking helps better align objects in your model for a cleaner view. - Back and Forward buttons on the Quick Access Toolbar
Return to the previously opened model by clicking the Back button or to the model you were at before using the Back button by clicking the Forward button . When hovering the mouse pointer over the Back and Forward buttons, a tooltip displays the model type and the name of the model to which you are navigating. - Recent Models list via the Metastorm M3 Application button
View and access up to 10 of your recently used models (including model versions) for the open project.
