Search installation
Jenni
Hi All,
We are trying to install search module on TS 6.5 Win 2003. We would like to few things before we could start the install.
1. Whether it is adviseable to install the search on the same drive, where the TS has beed installed. eg (d:/iw-home/Search)
2. If yes, will there be any performance issues?
3. If no, where can be the search be installed? Should search be installed in different drive on the same box (or) entirely on a different box?
Thanks!
Jenni

It all depends on what you have and how much pain you can stand. IWOV recommends a completely different search server. IMHO, that is overkill except when you are indexing. Then it would be nice. :-)
My implementation runs with SQL Server, TS and Search all on the same server (and same disks \Interwoven\iw-home, \interwoven\OpenDeplyNG, \interwoven\TSSearch, etc). We have plenty users and, outside of me, very few search users.
Keep in mind you need an industrial strength DB for the event subsystem. So I hope you are not on openJMS.
Also, I noticed a couple bugs with the older search, if you have the option of upgrading everybody to 6.7.1 that might be a decent option.

Search procust should be installe on the separate server. This is high CPU/Memory process and also the boot-strap indexing is more intensive. If you have really less content, there should be no problem in indtalling the search on the same drive but performace may be affected.
