Failover server settings

Hi All,

We need to setup a failover configuration which means that if main server fails then the second server should provide all teamsite related services. So can you please let us know the following:

a. Process involved in settings up failover kind of environment from single server.

b. License implications if any?

c. How the replication can take place from one server to another server.

d. Will it involve additional overhead, if yes, is it better to do it now or later after migration.(Actually we are migrating the existing teamsite server to a new envoirnment and along with this, we need to set up a failover server in the new envoirnment.)

To start off, it is prudent that you provide the following information:
1. OS
2. TS Version(s)... Because you are migrating from one to another.
3. Other architectural aspects. How do you publish content? What sites? Content size?
4. What is the SLA for downtime? Can you not use a restore instead of a failover?
5. Any other information on your environment that you feel will help us in helping you.

In addition - IWOV used to (and I believe still does) have an "HA" (High Availability) module that was used to monitor the TS processes and thus be able to alert and/or kick-over to a backup server in the event that the processes on the main server go down.
