Purpose of the hotfix:

 

This hotfix addresses the following issues:

 

• The "Failed to commit action" error is displayed when performing a combination of system and manual actions due to a unique constraint violation in the eEvent table. (Defect \# SR-11162011-0006, PF35556)
• When users open a blank form, a "Failed to read attachment" message is displayed. (Defect \# SR-04042012-0006, PF35583)
• Fields may become disabled during refills of the grid on the form. (Defect \# PF35401)
• In some instances, field caption text automatically wraps and overlays the field. (Defect \# SR-03182011-0012, SR-02092012-0002, PF35490)
• When viewing forms with grids, the focus incorrectly scrolls to the grid area rather than top of the form. (Defect \# SR-07082010-0017, PF35397)     
• Client-side refreshing of the form fields could empty grid data. (Defect \# SR-01192012-0006, PF35566)
• A "Service is not available" message is displayed if the engine is switched off when SOAP is used as a transport protocol in a multi-engine environment. (Defect \# SR-04202009-0009, PF34943)

 

Implications of the hotfix and other considerations:

 

• If the system has Microsoft Windows Installer version 4.0 or later installed, and Metastorm BPM 7.6.4.1 is the latest hotfix installed, subsequent hotfix installs may fail (setup will suddenly disappear). The failure is reflected in the installation log, located in the %TEMP% directory, with an entry such as:

  PATCH SEQUENCER ERROR: failed to retrieve the upgrade code Minor764ToHotfix7\_6\_4\_1 transform in \{71B7E384-AFDC-4AA6-9A5F-943955A651A0\} patch takes the product to! (1: 2253 2:  3: MsiPatchOldAssemblyName )

To resolve the problem:

1.   Determine which version of Windows Installer is installed. (Click Start > Run, enter msiexec.exe, and click OK.) If the version is 4.0 or later, continue with the following steps. If an earlier version is installed, disregard the following and install this hotfix.

2.   Determine which Metastorm BPM hotfix is installed using Add or Remove Programs. If Metastorm BPM hotfix 7.6.4.1 is installed, continue with the following steps. If Metastorm BPM 7.6.4 is installed, disregard the following and install this hotfix.

3.   Using Export, make a backup of the following registry key:
HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Installer\\UserData\\S-1-5-18\\Products\\DAF920CDE0F7A924BB29D979F4A3E951\\Patches

4.   Install the \*.reg file that is included in this hotfix package: 7.6.4.1\_Supersede.reg.

5.   Apply this hotfix using the installation instructions described below.

 

• The following Database Management Systemsversions are now supported:

o    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit)

o    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit)

• To avoid memory usage limitations by IIS, Open Text recommends that file attachments should be no larger than 50 MB.

 

• To avoid "Service is not available" message it is recommended to pause 3 minutes before accessing through a client, when starting or stopping the Metastorm Process Engine(s) in a multi-engine environment.

 

• A new setting was added into web.config file to resolve defect number PF35397 “When viewing forms with grids, the focus incorrectly scrolls to the grid area rather than top of the form.” The new setting is:
   

 

A value of "0" is off.

A value of "1" is on.
