What Hot Fix version am I on?
By Ivan
Have you ever been in a situation where you not sure if a hot fix was installed correctly on a particular IIS server? You want to be confident that the files are in place. Here's a simple way to set your mind at ease. You can easily add the file version to your folder view. Just open the folder you want, right click on one of the column header names, select "more" at the bottom of the dialog, then just scroll through the available choices until you see File Version and select it.
File Version.
Notice some things in my screen shot.
Hot fix number is displayed on most file as an appendage to the version number.
Not all files have the latest hot fix number --that's ok. Only files that need updating will have the new hot fix version.
The EBPI.DLL file an older version --that's ok. Web parts has always kept a private version of EBPI.DLL, only a very small portion of this DLL is used for support of "data forms". It does not get updated by any hotfix, nor has it ever.

The context of this note was originally for the SharePoint web parts, but this tip is relevant for any Windows system.
